Remarks: |
This route was formerly the lumber tram of the (August C.) Hoffman Heading & Stave Company at Mount Pleasant. Hoffman operated his tram into the White Oak Creek bottoms for the purpose of harvesting hardwoods, primarily oak, for use in barrel manufacturing. By 1908 Hoffman was no longer reliant on the tram, and sold the right-of-way to the newly chartered Paris & Mount Pleasant Railroad, who wished to use the right-of-way as the basis of its southern segment into Mount Pleasant. The P&MP completed its line in October 1910. [See Bibliography for this entry] |
