Additional information: This is how the M&ET looked as the company was dissolved and its right-of-way sold off in sections. The section from Marshall to Elysian Fields was sold to the Marshall, Elysian Fields & Southeastern Railway. The section from East Winnsboro to Gilmer was sold to a new company, the Winnsboro & Gilmer Railroad, but only that portion between East Winnsboro and Rhonesboro was ever operated. A buyer was never found for the section between Gilmer and Marshall, and that right-of-way was torn up and sold for scrap by 1924. |
